OC Publishing was established in Halifax, NS (Canada) in 2016 by award-winning author, Anne Louise O'Connell. Both traditionally and self-published, O’Connell started her publishing company to share her knowledge with others. We mentor new authors through manuscript writing and editing, coach them through the publishing process, and assist in developing their author platform. We are a hybrid publisher, a cross between self and traditional publishing, that follows the same process as traditional publishing, but is a fee for service model.
Genres we publish include: mystery, memoir, historical fiction, women’s fiction, YA, first chapter books, and children’s picture books. OC Publishing also offers self-publishing coaching.
After a twenty-year career in public relations, Anne began writing cozy mysteries. Her first novel, Mental Pause, launched in 2013 and won an IPPY (Independent Publisher Magazine) Book Award. Her next novel, Deep Deceit, launched as a top 10 Kindle best seller in March 2015.
The Canadian-born author/publisher has travelled the world and wrote travel and expat stories for Global Living Magazine and The Wall St. Journal Expat Blog. She subsequently published her stories in a collection titled Swimming with the Elephants and Other Adventures. While living in Thailand, she was a regular columnist for Expat Focus.
After 22 years living as an expat, she returned to her hometown and founded OC Publishing. Anne graduated from Mount St. Vincent University (MSVU) from Child Studies in 1984 (hence her love of children's literature) and again in 1990 with a Bachelor of Public Relations. She is a member of the Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia (WFNS) and the Atlantic Publishers Marketing Association.
Anne hosts The Author Journey presented by OC Publishing that airs live on the OC Publishing YouTube channel, FaceBook page and on LinkedIn on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. Atlantic.
